The Experiment of a Broadband Power Amplifier Based on the Ultrasonic Doppler Effect
Experiment Name: Experiment on the Study of Ultrasonic Doppler Effect Using a Broadband Power Amplifier
Experiment Content:Vascular occlusion is a common cardiovascular disease. The velocity of blood flow in the carotid artery can be measured using the ultrasonic Doppler effect, which helps determine whether there is a blockage in the blood vessel. When ultrasonic waves are reflected by red blood cells in the flowing blood, the frequency changes due to the Doppler effect, which can be used to determine the blood flow velocity.
Research Direction: Ultrasonic Detection
Testing Equipment:Signal generator, ATA-1220D broadband amplifier, oscilloscope, ultrasonic probe, etc.
Experimental Process:
Figure: Photograph of the Experimental Setup
Two ultrasonic probes are attached to the carotid artery, with one used for transmitting signals and the other for receiving signals. Coupling agent should be applied between the ultrasonic probe and the carotid artery. A 10 MHz excitation signal generated by the signal generator is amplified by the ATA-1220D broadband amplifier and applied to the ultrasonic probe, generating a 10 MHz ultrasonic wave. The other ultrasonic probe is connected to the oscilloscope to receive the signal. The signal is then demodulated, filtered, and processed through a Fourier transform to obtain the blood flow velocity distribution map.
Experimental Results:
Figure 2: Experimental Results
The distribution of blood flow velocity in the carotid artery and the corresponding characteristics of the cardiac cycle were measured. These include the first systolic phase (S1), the second systolic phase (S2), the peak velocity during diastole (D), the end-diastolic velocity (d), and the boundary line between systole and diastole (I). After the volunteer engaged in physical exercise, a significant increase in frequency shift was observed, indicating a marked increase in the blood flow velocity in the carotid artery. The heart rate also increased significantly, and the cardiac cycle was clearly visible.
Broadband Amplifier Recommendation: ATA-1372A
